Everybody must, at some point in their lives have wished to travel. I’ve known some, who’ve travelled like there was no tomorrow and end up waking up each morning in a different city, in a different hotel. Because, to some, traveling, is their one and only passion, like always being in love. It’s their lifeblood. You and I, may not have the same priorities or the same passion beating in our hearts, but admit it, you did once dreamed of travelling alone or go on an adventure. Don’t you just love the rush of exciting adventures and discovering new places?
But what place would be the ultimate experience, an adventure trip that you would not forget ?
The Philippines. Because of its strategic location on the globe, the Pearl of the Orient, as it is fondly called by historians and travelers, have the most favorable and ideal climate for travel.
So, to have that awesome holiday, I have gathered :
12 great tips to help you get the most out of your Philippine trip
1. Forget the perfect plan. Flexibility is the key.
Avoid travelling with a definite plan. Of course, it would save you precious time but even the best-laid plans, stiff itineraries, at some point, one way or another , will tend to go off -rail. A too-detailed,well-crafted plan would lose the thrill of a spur-of-the-moment decision to do things that you have not even considered yet. I think many would agree that the best travels are the ones that were least planned. So, don’t overdo your travel plans. Loosen up! You are supposed to enjoy not stress out.
2. Saying no ain’t a mortal sin.
Be always mindful that, it is YOUR vacation. It’s nice to listen to suggestions but the final decision is yours. Never allow someone to push or force you into doing things you don’t feel like doing, most particularly, vendors or hawker. If you have trouble saying “No” to people, then this is the best practice for you. Say a firm “No, thank you.” If they still persist, best thing to do is ignore them. Don’t allow them to pressure or bully you into purchasing or even considering their merchandise.
3. Be Knowledgeable. Read the paper. Go online.
What’s super-duper more updated than your travel guide? Of course the local papers and magazines, of course. In case you haven’t noticed, you’re not living in the prehistoric era anymore. Today’s technology has helped a lot in the industry of travel and tourism. Scoping out travel sites in your mobile phones via the world wide web through wi-fi would be the best option you’d want to take when you lose your guide, or vice-versa. In the Philippines, unless you are planning to stay in the countryside in the midst of the rice fields, everybody has access to internet connections.
4. A guide is just a guide, not an answer to everything.
Sad part, the saying “change is the only thing that’s constant”, applies to travel too. Restaurants fold, and sometimes, hotels burn down. For all you know, the travel guide on your hand is an out-dated edition. It could be unreliable at some point, but don’t allow it to get to you. Remember, it is only a guide. Nothing beats talking face to face with the locals and other adventurer-seekers. It is still the best option you’ve got to find out what’s hip and what’s not in town .
5. Learn the Language.
It would not hurt to learn a few “hi’s” and “hello’s” in the local language or dialect. If you plan to stay for more than a few days, this is probably the best advice. You have no excuse not to learn the language , at least the very basic. This, in fact, would probably give them a great impression on you.
6. Mingle With the Locals.
Don’t be afraid to ask somebody. After all, adventure also means making new friends. Unless you’re out of luck and they told you to buy a guidebook instead, it will never hurt to ask your hostel’s landlord. Who knows he could be the best guide you could ever have.
7. Got No Reservations? Don’t Fret. No Biggie.
If it is not peak season in places with heavy tourist volume, you do not need a reservation. Most would welcome you as their guest with or without a reservation. But ,if you have set your eye and heart on that special place, then reserve anyway. Do not freak out if you don’t have one. Just remember, most places do not accommodate advance booking anyway.
8. Pack Light, Pack Big
Huh? You’re going on a holiday in a tropical place, not going to a military mission in the North Pole, so pack appropriately. Leave your portable stove, sleeping bag, tent, 10 books to read, a dozen underwear and jeans. The Philippines is a tropical country, so you might as well have thought of bringing light and airy clothing. We said pack big because for sure you will be accumulating stuff too. You’ll need something to store that fake Gucci bag you got from Divisoria for granny, don’t you think? Be careful though in trying to bring in or out of the country some fake items.
9. Most Importantly, Take Your Noggins With You.
Some people left their brains at home because of the ‘amnesia-effect of excitement. Many did their stupidest things while on travel. So do pack your ‘sentido comun’ with you. It won’t hurt since it could actually increase chances of you and your company having a great time.
10. Got Insurance?
As a follow up to tourists who cannot be stopped from doing stupid things, that is, brainless antics, would really need this. Don’t be shocked if your discounted policy won’t pay up. The details of your policy would not actually be significant to you when you’re already dead but it would make things uncomplicated for your family to fly your body, which is a long and tiring process, and expensive too. Having your mom’s address tattooed under your arm won’t help. Look for a comprehensive travel insurance.
11. Not everything you need to know about your host country is true.
While it could sometimes be true that a man could be casually looking at you yet thinking of his escape route when he snatches your cellphone, do not treat everybody as if they’re going to rip you off. You won’t be in the Philippines if you think it’s that bad anyway.
12. Do less to do more, But never skip the highlights.
Don’t try to see everything in too little time. Slow down and see less, but choose to see the Philippines highlights. If the need to cram and see everything arise, then going with an organized tour is your best option.
Planning your trip will always pay off, but leaving yourself open to possible changes is a sure winner. Try your best to learn the basics of the language or dialect to help you communicate with the locals rather than waste time staying away from them. A guidebook is still your best friend, but don’t freak out when things do not go as it is stated in it. There are other sources that you could us, mainly, talking to people. Maintain being levelheaded. Pack appropriately and keep your sanity!

Have you ever felt that quiet nudge in your heart — the one that whispers, “Go. Explore. Discover.”?
Solo travel isn’t just about visiting new places. It’s about returning to yourself in ways you never imagined. For women, especially, solo travel is a beautiful act of reclaiming freedom, confidence, and joy.
Here are 10 reasons why travel feeds the soul — and why every woman should try it at least once in her life.
1. You Discover Who You Really Are
Away from the noise and expectations of everyday life, solo travel offers a rare opportunity: to meet yourself. When there’s no one else to influence your decisions, your voice gets louder. Your intuition sharper. You find out what you truly love, fear, crave, and value.
2. Freedom is Delicious
Wake up when you want. Eat where you want. Change plans without asking anyone. That kind of freedom is not only empowering — it’s soul-fueling. You learn that your happiness isn’t dependent on others, and that’s a life-changing revelation.
3. You Build Unshakable Confidence
Figuring out how to navigate foreign cities, ordering food in a new language, trusting your gut — these small wins stack up fast. And soon, you realize: “If I can do this, I can do anything.” Solo travel turns self-doubt into self-trust.
4. Silence Becomes Sacred
In a world that’s always buzzing, silence can feel awkward — but when you’re traveling alone, it becomes your sanctuary. Whether you’re journaling in a café in Lisbon or watching the sunset in Palawan, you begin to hear yourself again.
5. The World Becomes Your Teacher
Solo travel is the ultimate classroom. You’ll learn how to adapt, empathize, communicate, and connect with people whose lives look nothing like yours. Every encounter and every place adds a layer to your wisdom and perspective.
6. You Fall in Love with the Present Moment
With no one rushing you or pulling you in a different direction, you start to notice things — the swirl of your coffee, the colors of a local market, the sound of temple bells in the distance. Traveling solo slows you down, in the best possible way.
7. You Create Your Own Magic
No itinerary? Perfect. You get to follow your curiosity. Discover that secret beach. Wander into that quiet bookstore. Dance in the street if you feel like it. When you travel solo, spontaneity becomes your best friend — and magic follows.
8. You Heal in Unexpected Ways
Travel has a way of softening the edges of past wounds. It opens space for reflection, self-forgiveness, and growth. Whether you’re nursing heartbreak, burnout, or simply seeking clarity, solo travel gives you room to breathe — and begin again.
9. You Realize You’re Never Truly Alone
Some of your most memorable moments will come from brief, beautiful connections — the hostel friend who feels like a sister, the stranger who helps you when you’re lost, the local who shares their story. You’re solo, but never isolated.
10. Your Soul Will Thank You
Travel feeds the soul by reminding you of life’s vastness, beauty, and possibility. It’s the kind of nourishment no material thing can give you — a deep, soul-level satisfaction that says: “This is what living feels like.”
Final Thoughts:
You don’t have to go far. You don’t need to have all the answers. But if your soul is stirring for something more — listen.
Pack light, follow your joy, and trust that wherever you go, you’re exactly where you’re meant to be. 💫

Let’s be honest — when you’re packing for a solo trip, there’s always that temptation to bring everything “just in case.” But if you’ve ever dragged a heavy suitcase through cobbled streets, tiny hostels, or airport escalators… you already know: less is more.
As a solo female traveler, you want to feel prepared, but not burdened. Confident, but still comfortable. Stylish, but still sensible. Here’s how to strike that perfect balance and pack light — without sacrificing what matters most.
The Golden Rule: Think in Outfits, Not Items
Don’t pack individual pieces. Pack complete outfits. Think mix-and-match. Aim for clothing that can be worn in multiple combinations. A capsule wardrobe is your best friend.

So you’ve decided to take that solo adventure — how exciting (and a little nerve-wracking, I know!). One of the most important decisions is choosing where to go. You want a destination that’s safe, easy to navigate, and full of experiences that feed your soul.
Whether you’re craving city buzz, peaceful beaches, or a dose of culture, here are five perfect places for your first solo trip — all tried, tested, and loved by solo female travellers around the world.
1. Kyoto, Japan 🇯🇵
Why it’s perfect: Peaceful temples, cherry blossoms, friendly locals, and spotless streets — Kyoto is serenity wrapped in elegance. Japan is one of the safest countries in the world, and Kyoto offers a calm, slower pace compared to Tokyo. You’ll love walking through the bamboo groves, visiting traditional tea houses, and reflecting in zen gardens.
Solo-friendly tip: Stay in a traditional ryokan (inn) and join a cultural class — like kimono dressing or tea ceremony — to meet fellow travellers.
2. Lisbon, Portugal 🇵🇹
Why it’s perfect: Lisbon is a gem for solo travellers — colourful, coastal, and full of charm. People are warm and helpful, English is widely spoken, and the city is very walkable. You’ll adore the pastel buildings, soulful Fado music, and breathtaking views from the miradouros (viewpoints).
Solo-friendly tip: Take the iconic Tram 28 for a scenic intro to the city. Don’t miss the nearby town of Sintra for a magical day trip.
3. Bali, Indonesia 🇮🇩
Why it’s perfect: Bali is a favourite among solo female travellers for good reason — spiritual vibes, beaches, yoga retreats, and a strong community of solo women exploring their freedom. Ubud is ideal for wellness, while Canggu and Uluwatu are beachy and laid-back.
Solo-friendly tip: Book a wellness retreat to ease into the solo experience. You’ll meet amazing women from all over the world while enjoying massages, healthy food, and sunsets.
4. Barcelona, Spain 🇪🇸
Why it’s perfect: If you’re craving a mix of art, beach, culture, and nightlife, Barcelona checks all the boxes. The city feels alive with creativity — from Gaudí’s surreal architecture to street musicians echoing through Gothic alleys. It’s fun, energetic, and surprisingly solo-friendly.
Solo-friendly tip: Stay in the El Born or Eixample district. Join a free walking tour — they’re great for meeting people and getting your bearings.
5. Queenstown, New Zealand 🇳🇿
Why it’s perfect: If you’re looking for adventure with a side of peace, Queenstown is paradise. Nestled by a lake and surrounded by mountains, it’s perfect for nature lovers and adrenaline junkies alike. And yes — New Zealand is incredibly safe and easy to explore solo.
Solo-friendly tip: Try something bold (like bungee jumping or paragliding!) — Queenstown has a way of making you braver than you thought you were.

There’s a certain kind of magic in boarding a plane with no one but yourself to answer to. No itinerary debates. No travel buddies to wait for. Just you, your suitcase, and the wide open world.
That was me — nervously clutching my passport at the airport, heart fluttering between excitement and fear. It was my first solo trip. And little did I know, it would change everything.
The Lead-Up: Before You Go
Travelling solo isn’t something you wake up and do on a whim — at least not the first time. I spent weeks planning (and overthinking). But here’s what really helped me prepare:
1. Choose the Right Destination
Pick a place that feels safe, welcoming, and aligned with your interests. For your first solo trip, avoid places that overwhelm you just thinking about them. Instead, try a city known for being solo-travel-friendly — somewhere with good public transport, a vibrant café culture, and walkable streets. Think Kyoto, Barcelona, or even a cozy island close to home.
2. Do Some Light Planning — Not Overplanning
You don’t need a rigid itinerary, but it’s smart to:
- Book your first two nights of accommodation.
- Research how to get from the airport to your hotel safely.
- Learn a few key local phrases if going abroad.
- Know the must-visit spots — and mark a few “non-negotiables.”
Leave room for spontaneity. The beauty of solo travel lies in following your whims.
3. Prepare Emotionally
You might get lonely. You might second-guess yourself. That’s normal. But remember: you’re never truly alone — kindness lives in strangers, and you’ll meet versions of yourself you didn’t know existed.
While You’re There: During the Trip
1. Do Things That Make You Come Alive
Go on that food tour. Wander through bookstores. Sit at a café for hours with a notebook and just be. Solo travel is your permission slip to fully listen to your soul’s desires.
2. Stay Safe, Stay Smart
- Share your itinerary with someone you trust.
- Keep your valuables close.
- Stay aware of your surroundings — always.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off, leave.
3. Talk to People
Solo doesn’t mean isolated. Some of the most heartwarming memories came from conversations with fellow travellers, shop owners, and locals who generously shared their stories — and listened to mine.
4. Write it Down
Whether it’s a journal, a blog (like this one), or just random notes in your phone, write about the little things: the way the light hit your coffee cup, the smell of the local market, the moment you realized you were stronger than your fears.
Why Every Woman Should Try Travelling Solo — At Least Once
Solo travel is more than a trip. It’s a journey back to yourself.
- You become your own decision-maker.
- You learn to enjoy your own company.
- You trust your gut more — and it rewards you.
- You realise that freedom is not something you ask for, it’s something you claim.
Travelling alone as a woman is powerful. It tells the world — and yourself — “I am enough.” It builds courage quietly, but permanently. And the best part? Once you do it, you’ll wonder why you ever waited.
Final Thoughts from My First Solo Journey
I thought I was going on a trip. But really, I was coming home to myself.
If you’ve been waiting for the “right time” — this is it. The world is waiting. Your inner compass is already pointing in the right direction.
Go — and don’t forget to send yourself a postcard.
